I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praying that you are all well and getting ready for our upcoming Annual Conference. My prayer is that we are all taking head to the weather and not the season. I know as per the calendar, it is Spring, but it feels like January. Please dress appropriately, this way we will avoid getting the flu.
As you are aware the New York Annual Conference Women in Ministry Executive Board election for the 2015-2016 was held on this past Thursday, March 19th 2015 @ People's Institutional AME Church. We thank God for the Rev. Carrie Nobles and the wonderful people at People's Institutional AME Church who welcomed us warmly and also provided refreshments for us.
We also want to thank Dr. Kentia for coming and presented a wonderful workshop on how we can we better deal with the stressors in our lives. We were also blessed as she was able to release some those tensions from our shoulders as she gave massages to all who desired it. Some of us even went home with gifts such as "water pillow."
The following is the New York Annual Conference Women in Ministry Executive Board Members 2015-2016:
- Rev. Jacqueline Lynch - Coordinator
- Rev. Paulette Adams - Assistant Coordinator
- Rev. Denise Parker-Lawrence - Secretary
- Rev. JoAn Owings - Herstoriographer
- Rev. Alicia Bailey - Treasurer
- Rev. Adunola Waterman-French - Worship Leader
- Rev. Marilyn Flores - Financial Secretary
Wont you join me in welcoming Rev. Flores to the team as we look forward to the 2015-2016 Conference Year.
A special thank you to our nominating committee: the Rev. Dietra Bell-chairperson, Rev. Edna Parker and the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill. Thank you all for a job well done and for carrying out the election process for us. As the Executive Board, we want to say "Thank you all."
As your "Coordinator" for another year, I am excited about what God has in store for us. We had a great year (2014-2015), but I am "Expecting" greater things in this coming conference year, because we serve a great and mighty God who told us that "greater things shall we do."
There is much work to be done my sisters. This upcoming year promises to be like none other. As we the First Episcopal District will be the host for General Conference 2016, we want to be sure that we are involved, we are counted, we are recognized and we are there. If you have not already signed up to be a First District Responder (FDR) I encourage you to do so IMMEDIATELY. Your skills, talents, expertise and know how is needed. Remember, you, me, us, we, need to get involve.
As the Executive Board, we are committed to do the work that has been assigned to us to do. We have worked well in the past and I know that we will continue to do so in the future.
Let me also ask that you commit even now to become more involved in WIM this conference year. As you know, our meetings are rotated each month, so every 3 months, there is a meeting on your Presiding Elder's District. Wont you consider attending at least that meeting? We need you, we need what you have to offer, we need your gifts and talents, we need each other.
Please make sure that you have met all of your WIM financial obligations for 2014-2015, and we have already begun to collect dues for the 2015-2016 conference year. This is extremely important as in order to participate in upcoming Connectional WIM election at the General Conference, we must be paid up for both years. If you have any questions or concerns, please free to ask us or let us know.
I am excited about this upcoming conference year, I pray that you are also.
To God be Glory,
Rev. Jacqueline Lynch
NY Conference WIM Coordinator
