Well my sisters, I am sure that we all have heard the reading of the decision that was made by the grand jury in Ferguson regarding Police Officer Wilson for shooting to death unarmed Michael Brown.

I don't know about you, but I was not surprised by their decision, but it still hurt and very disappointing. I am reminded that as far as we have come, there is still yet so much further that we have to go and to do.

I believe that this is also a reminder to us that we are to continue to trust and depend on God who knows all things and sees all things.

One thing I am certain about is that not only are we to continue in prayer, but we must also do something after we get up off of our knees, get up out of the bed, or move from the place from which you were praying. It is time for us to get involved in our communities. When was the last time that you attended a precinct meeting or Community Board meeting in your community? How many of us are members of our local NAACP branches and or attend their meetings?
How many of us are members of NAN (National Action Network) or the Urban League?
My sisters we need to and must do something. When I was in the Ministerial Institute, Dean Mackey encouraged us to keep the Bible in one hand and the Times Newspaper in the other. In other words, we cannot be so heavenly minded that we become, or, are no earthly good.

Looting, destroying properties are not the answer. As a people we have more power than we think and one way of showing America and the world just how powerful we are is through our spending. What

As a people, we must be united. We are stronger together than apart, there is power in unity, so can we do that? I know several groups/organizations are planning and are asking that as a people that we boycott shopping on Friday and also on Cyber Monday. Can you imagine if we as a people were to be united and to follow through by not spending our monies on the Friday after Thanksgiving and or on Cyber Monday?

I am not telling anyone to do this, I am just asking, if you can imagine the impact that this would have? The choice is yours and the choice is mines. I just know that our sons, nephews, brothers, husbands and fathers are God's children created in His image and do not deserve to be treated in this manner. As a mother of a son, grandmother to grandsons, sister to brothers, daughter of a father I know that I must continue to pray, seek God's face and direction and I MUST do something.

Let's keep praying my sisters.

As we are in the season of Thanksgiving, we will have a Thanksgiving service and we are looking forward to being in the House of the Lord, giving God thanks for all that He has done for us.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you at Trinity.
