Please mark your calendars for July 17th 2015 for our barbecue which will be held on the Jamaica/Long Island District at Salem AME Church-109 Roslyn Rd. Roslyn, NY. This year, The Ministerial Alliance and NY WIM will join together for this barbecue/picnic.
In light of the events that took place in Charleston, South Carolina on last night where the Rev. Clementa Pinckney and 8 other of his members of which, one of the members is sister of our very own Evangelist Christine George of St. Matthew's Community AME Church of Hollis were gunned down while in Bible Study. We the New York Annual Conference Women in Ministry understand the Power of UNITY and so we will be joining with the Emanuel AME Church family in prayer at noon where ever you may be. We are also cancelling our scheduled meeting for this evening as we join in a Prayer Vigil that will be held at First Bethel AME Church-Harlem, this evening. I know that this may cause a change in some of our schedules, but this is a major cause for us to join together in Prayer as we pray for our Connectional Church, family and friends. This is a reminder for us to pray for our Episcopal leaders/team, Pastors, Ministers, family and friends. It's time to pray, so PLEASE join us if you can at First Bethel AME Church 60 West 132nd St. New York, NY. -- -Rev. Jacqueline Lynch Coordinator of The NY Annual Conference Women In Ministry WWW.NYAMEWIM.ORG Grace and Peace my beloved sisters and Associate members: What an awesome God we serve. Planning Meeting 2015 was absolutely, positively awesome. God showed up in everything. The Worship services were off the chain. The Rev. Dr. Gina Stewart started off the week-end by reminding some of us and telling the rest of us, that "We are not in this by ourselves." What an awesome word of encouragement. No matter how bad things may seem, or how overwhelmed we may feel, "We are not in this by ourselves." Then on Friday noon-day, our very own the Rev. Jeaninne Wallace, Pastor of Ebenezer AME Church (Manhattan District) told us that if we trust God, we will get "More than we bargained for." God will never let us down. If that wasn't enough, then on Friday night the Rev. Dr. Marcus D. Cosby preached "To God be the Glory." The Praise and Worship was awesome especially on Friday night. The Greater Allen Cathedral choir ministered in song and took us to the throne room of God. The Rev. Alicia Bailey and the Rev. Francena Orr read the Old and New Testament and we shouted and Praise God from the reading of the Word of God. It was an awesome experience. It is a little challenging to put it into words what took place. It was just awesome. We danced and shouted all night. The preached word kept us on our feet all through the sermon. God used these 3 preachers (Rev. Dr. Stewart, Rev. Wallace and Rev. Dr. Cosby) to Bless us tremendously. Then on Saturday for the closing service, Bishop J. Delano Ellis II preached "Hiding the child." His sermon was filled with laughter and encouragement. He shared his story, and reminded us that we all have a story that needs to be shared. Following the closing service it was time for the ordination of the Local Deacons and Elders and the appointments of Pastors. So we want to say congratulation to the newly ordained Rev. Sharice Wallace who was ordained as a Local Deacon for the Greater Allen Cathedral and congratulations to the Rev. Val Gittens on her ordination as a Local Elder also for the Greater Allen Cathedral. We Praise God for our sisters accomplishments and for their new walk on this journey call ministry. Following the ordination service, the appointments were handed out. We are happy for our sister, the Rev. Alicia Bailey who was transferred from the Manhattan District to the Brooklyn District as the new Pastor of St. John's AME Church, Brooklyn, NY. We thank God for her service to the wonderful people of St. James/St. Philips, and we Praise God for the new assignment that He has given to her as she goes forth at St. Johns. We know that God is in full control and that we are not in this thing by ourselves. The Rev. Tamoya Buckley-Davis was also transferred from the New York Conference/Manhattan District to the New Jersey Conference. Rev. Tamoya served at Bethel AME Church Arverne. She will be missed but we thank God that she knows she has made some friends while here in the New York Conference while she was here and she can say "Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than she could even imagine. To God be the Glory." We all left Planning Meeting 2015 encouraged, empowered and ready to run the race, to go back to our home church knowing that we are not alone, and if we do what God desires of us, we will get more than we ask for, then we will be able to say To God be the Glory. If you missed this planning meeting, don't worry, Fall Convocation (November) will be here sooner than you think. I am encouraging you now to make plans to be in attendance, even if you can only attend for one day. I strongly encourage you to make plans to attend, because you don't want to hear it second hand. My sisters, please remember, "You are not in this by yourself." To God be the Glory. -Rev. Jacqueline Lynch Coordinator of The NY Annual Conference Women In Ministry WWW.NYAMEWIM.ORG |
