Praise the Lord my sisters:

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praying that you are all well and getting ready for our upcoming Annual Conference. My prayer is that we are all taking head to the weather and not the season. I know as per the calendar, it is Spring, but it feels like January. Please dress appropriately, this way we will avoid getting the flu.

As you are aware the New York Annual Conference Women in Ministry Executive Board election for the 2015-2016 was held on this past Thursday, March 19th 2015 @ People's Institutional AME Church. We thank God for the Rev. Carrie Nobles and the wonderful people at People's Institutional AME Church who welcomed us warmly and also provided refreshments for us.

We also want to thank Dr. Kentia for coming and presented a wonderful workshop on how we can we better deal with the stressors in our lives. We were also blessed as she was able to release some those tensions from our shoulders as she gave massages to all who desired it. Some of us even went home with gifts such as "water pillow."

The following is the New York Annual Conference Women in Ministry Executive Board Members 2015-2016:

  • Rev. Jacqueline Lynch - Coordinator
  • Rev. Paulette Adams - Assistant Coordinator
  • Rev. Denise Parker-Lawrence - Secretary
  • Rev. JoAn Owings - Herstoriographer
  • Rev. Alicia Bailey - Treasurer
  • Rev. Adunola Waterman-French - Worship Leader
  • Rev. Marilyn Flores - Financial Secretary

Wont you join me in welcoming Rev. Flores to the team as we look forward to the 2015-2016 Conference Year.
A special thank you to our nominating committee: the Rev. Dietra Bell-chairperson, Rev. Edna Parker and the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill. Thank you all for a job well done and for carrying out the election process for us. As the Executive Board, we want to say "Thank you all."

As your "Coordinator" for another year, I am excited about what God has in store for us. We had a great year (2014-2015), but I am "Expecting" greater things in this coming conference year, because we serve a great and mighty God who told us that "greater things shall we do."

There is much work to be done my sisters. This upcoming year promises to be like none other. As we the First Episcopal District will be the host for General Conference 2016, we want to be sure that we are involved, we are counted, we are recognized and we are there. If you have not already signed up to be a First District Responder (FDR) I encourage you to do so IMMEDIATELY. Your skills, talents, expertise and know how is needed. Remember, you, me, us, we, need to get involve.

As the Executive Board, we are committed to do the work that has been assigned to us to do. We have worked well in the past and I know that we will continue to do so in the future.

Let me also ask that you commit even now to become more involved in WIM this conference year. As you know, our meetings are rotated each month, so every 3 months, there is a meeting on your Presiding Elder's District. Wont you consider attending at least that meeting? We need you, we need what you have to offer, we need your gifts and talents, we need each other.

Please make sure that you have met all of your WIM financial obligations for 2014-2015, and we have already begun to collect dues for the 2015-2016 conference year. This is extremely important as in order to participate in upcoming Connectional WIM election at the General Conference, we must be paid up for both years. If you have any questions or concerns, please free to ask us or let us know.

I am excited about this upcoming conference year, I pray that you are also.

To God be Glory,

Rev. Jacqueline Lynch
NY Conference WIM Coordinator

To God be the Glory.
-Rev. Jacqueline Lynch
Coordinator of The NY Annual Conference

As we come to the end of this Advent Season 2013, we Praise God as we anticipate the birth of His son Jesus the Christ.  We certainly thank God for His Hope, Peace, Joy and Love that He so freely give unto each and everyone one of us.

As you all know, the plan for us (NYWIM)  is for us to meet monthly following the agenda of meeting, fellowship and Worship, rotating on each Presiding Elder's District. Due to the various events for this month and 2 home going celebrations in the same week as our December gathering (Fellowship) it was decided that we would have a post Christmas Celebration in January.  For our January gathering, we will have a short meeting followed by our Christmas Celebration. This gathering will take place on the Bklyn/Westchester District. I will be sending out information regarding where this will  take place.

Also, please note time is drawing near, Annual Conference is upon us again, therefore its time for us to hold our elections for the 2014/2015 Conference year.  All positions are open as we are elected yearly. If you are interested in holding a position on the Conference level, you may nominate yourself. On the other hand, if you chose not to nominate yourself,  you may chose to nominate someone else.

Please  send this information to our nominating committee. They are the Rev. Dr. Rose Murray (roseemurray@msn.com), Rev. Dietra Bell (revdcb123@aol.com) and Exh. Audra Browne (enworba@verizon.net).
You may begin the nominating process now. If you chose to nominate someone, please do ask if they are interested in the position for which you  are nominating them for.

Grace and Peace my sisters:

Thank you to all who attended our Monthly meeting on Thursday May15th. A very special "Thank You" to Rev Michelle Grimes and Rev April Beckles of Bridge Street AME Church and to their Pastor and First Lady, the  Rev. David and Valerie Cousin for hosting us.  Thank you to our Worship Leader, the Rev Addunola Waterman-French, Pastor of Greater St. Paul AME Church for leading us in a brief presentation on Worship After the presentation and worshiping, we went before the Lord in prayer. We followed as the scriptures instructed us to do, we prayed for one another. We prayer for our families, our children, our seniors, those who are sick, NYAMEWIM (Connectional and District President, and Local Coordinator), our Episcopal leadership, Pastors, Ministers Evangelist and all in authority. We prayed for each other and for you as well.

I am grateful to God for the women who were in attendance. Several ideas and thoughts were shared as to how we can/should move forward. We are hoping to put in place several of these ideas as soon as possible. It was also noted that in order for us to move to the next level will require the presence and  support of you my sisters. I am clear that we all cannot make all the meetings, but we are encouraging you to participate as often as you can especially when the meetings are held on your Presiding Elder's district.

As we move forward, please note that we will join with the Ministerial Alliance once again for the Annual Ministerial Alliance picnic in June. In July we will hold our very first BBQ meeting which will  be hosted by Salem AME Church. As this is a BBQ, this meeting will take place on FRIDAY, July 25 2015, not on our usual Thursday evening. At this meeting, you may bring your children as they will be able to play on the grounds and be in a safe environment. There will be no meeting in August, and we will resume in September.
Please be prayerful as we as expecting to hold elections on each Presiding Elder's District as a Coordinator is needed on ALL PE Districts. Please share your interest of holding a position of either Coordinator, Ass't Coordinator,  Sec.  or Treasurer
Be Blessed my sisters and have a wonderful restful night

Grace and Peace my sisters:

What an awesome time we had today at the 192nd Session of the New York Annual Conference.

I want to say thank you to all of you who attended the W.I.M. Luncheon today. I am so grateful for the support and encouragement that you continue to show and express to the ministry and to this Coordinator.

I especially want to say thank you and to say what an honor it was to have our Episcopal Supervisor the Rev. Dr. Jessica Ingram, the Jamaica/Long Island Presiding Elder, the Rev. Henrietta Scott-Fullard, the Manhattan Consultant-the Rev. Darlene McCune and the  Rev. Dr. Elaine Flake to join us for lunch.

It was very special for this Coordinator to have the First District President the Rev. Dr. Emily-Gail Dill (Bermuda) and our very own Connectional President, the Rev. Kimberly L. Detherage Esq. to be with us. They have no idea just how special it was to have them both present for our luncheon. Thank you ladies, as you both have been so supportive and encouraging to me. You guys have set the standards for me to follow, and I am following.

Thank you Rev. JoAnn Owings for the doing such an good job on the newsletter. You are a wonderful herstoriagrapher who has taken your assignment seriously. I really do appreciate you and all that you have done and are still doing.

To all of the other Executive Bd. members (Rev. Alicia Bailey, Rev. Dr. Linda Hill and Rev. Addunola Waterman-French), thank you so much for continually stepping up to do what is needed to get the job.

And to all of you my sisters in ministry, to God be the Glory for all of you. For your continual support. You show up, you purchase the Lenten journals, the walls between us are coming down, we are getting to know each other, we are supportive of each other and what God is doing in each other's life and we growing "Stronger together."

The Rev. Myra Billups preached "Are you willing to stay the course" and the Rev. Allan Robinson preached "Now is the time." My sisters, I am willing to stay the course and I know that "Now is the time" for us as Women in Ministry to step up to the plate to take our rightful place at the table. We need to and must stay the course. We can't back down now. We must continue to encourage our sisters promotions and appointments. We must help to raise our sister's hands  when she is tired and weary. We must be willing to stand in the gap and continue to pray for each other. We must be present and willing to offer our shoulders when our sister is crying and need a shoulder to lean on. We must be willing to help a sister out by telling us the truth in love. If my slip is hanging to tell me and not allow me to continue to walk around with my slip being longer than my skirt. My sister we must be willing to stay the course and the time is now for us to who we are in God, Women in Ministry.

Well, we have 1 more full day and then there is ordination. We want to say congratulations to the Lic. Nicole, Lic. Deanna and Lic. Patricia who will be ordained Itinerant Deacons and to Rev. Juanita Houston-Brown who will be ordained Itinerant Elder. Congratulations my sisters.

Be Blessed my sisters.
-Rev. Jacqueline Lynch

April 2014

Today was the New York Conference Missionary Day and the Preacher for the day was the Rev. Kathleen Brooks at Emanuel A.M.E. Church, New Rochelle. Her scripture was taken from Mark 16:1-8 and her topic was "Sunrise Service."

Rev. Brooks preached a mighty Word that was not only for the Missionaries, but for the entire church. She reminded us that in order to experience "Sunrise Service" we must: -Prepare for Service and we Must show up for service.

She had us on our feet as she declared the Word of God with authority.

Rev. Brooks, thank you for that word today. I believe that we all needed to hear it.
Be Blessed.
-Rev. Jacqueline Lynch

March 2014

Grace and Peace my sisters:

Today, March 5 2014, begins the season of Lent. Lent is a 40-day period in which we ought to draw closer to God. During this season we are encouraged to draw closer to the Lord through Prayer, fasting, reading/studying of the Word, meditation/soaking, just some quiet time, some extra time in the presence of God.

Many of us maybe fasting and others may not be able to for various reasons. If you are fasting, be mindful of your medication regime. Remember that during this season, it is not so much about  fasting (not eating), but it is more about our willingness and desire to draw closer to God. Are we willing to pray for others as well as ourselves, are we willing to repent of our sins and ask God to change us and help us to become more like Him? Are we willing to turn off the television/radio, put away the ipads, cell phones (ALL types) etc and spend that time seeking God's face. May we talk less about nothing with each other and talk more with God about everything.

Many of us will be reading various books and devotionals during this season as well. The First District Women in Ministry has put together a wonderful devotional that can also be added to your list of devotionals. Each meditation is written by a Woman in Ministry in this district. Thirteen of the writers of the 40-day meditations were written by Women in Ministry right here in the New York Conference.
For those Pastors who received several devotionals at Founder's Day, my prayer is that you were able to sell them to our sisters/brothers to aide in their time of meditation.

For those who are interested in having one of the devotionals, they are  $10/each. Please let me know of your interest in getting one.
Also take note of the emails that were forwarded to you from our Bishop and Episcopal Supervisor regarding the Lenten Season.
Please remember to continue to lift another woman in prayer during this month. Take the time to recognize a woman in your life, letting her know just how much you appreciate her.
Let us celebrate each other.

To God be the Glory!!!!!-
-Rev. Jacqueline Lynch

February 2014

WIM-Black History Celebration
What an awesome time that was had by all who attended the WIM Black History program "Celebrating our Heroes and Sheroes."
Thank you to the Rev. Alicia Bailey, Rev. Dr. Linda Hill, the Manhattan District and the wonderful people of St. James/St. Philip for their hospitality. Rev. Alicia did an awesome job in engaging the Manhattan District to be a part of the program. We were blessed by ministry in dance, the creative arts and in song.

Kudos to those wonderful young people of Trinity AME Church (Rev. Dr. Murray, Pastor)  they sung us happy. Sis. Diamond Smalls (youth of SJSP) ministered unto the Lord in dance as she reminded us that "God is Able."
Thank you to Sis. Toussant (St. Luke), Sis. Frazier (Bridge Street) who ministered through Creative Arts. The Rev. Lillian Allen (Metropolitan) did it. She reminded us we, she, you and I have been changed and the Angels in heaven in heaven are calling our names. This led to the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill praising God and delivering a sermonette.   The Dance Ministry of First AME Church-Bethel closed us out and as they reminded us that God is "Turning it around for me."

It was an wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone who participated on the program, attended, prepared the food, driving and or escorting the young people there, whatever your role, "Thank you."
Praise the Lord my sisters.

Let me say that  this past week-end we had an awesome time in Philadelphia as we gathered from far and near for our Annual Founder's Day Celebration. Bishop Ingram and our Episcopal Supervisor did a superb job. The preach word, the workshops etc. all were encouraging and enlightening. It was worth the trip and I am grateful that I was able to be there.

If you so desire, you may go to the First District Website were information is promised to be available as to how you might be able to purchase the CD's. They are worth obtaining.

As mentioned in a previous email, if at all possible, I do encourage each of us to attend the Bishop's meetings in Philadelphia. It is part of our responsibility. As stated before, they are held Thursday through Saturday and if you are not able to attend all of the days, if you are able to attend for any portion, I am sure you will be blessed.

Another highlight was that our former NY Conference Coordinator the Rev. Dr. Erika Crawford has been assigned as one of the General Conference Chairpersons which we the First District will be hosting. We are very proud of Rev. Crawford and are praying that God will give her the strength, wisdom, knowledge and understanding for this task.
Also another woman, the Rev. Myra Billips of the New Jersey Conference along with her husband also has been named Chairpersons. Let us continue to pray for our Women in Ministry as they continue to do the work.

We have all been asked to participate at General Conference as there will be a need for assistance in every area. When the forms are sent to you, (FDR) First District Responders, please do fill it out and submit it.

The New York Annual Conference is fast approaching so, we encourage you to make plans to be in attendance.
To God be the Glory

Just a friendly reminder that we will be gathering on this Thursday January 17th @ 7 p.m. @ Bright Temple A.M.E. Church located at 812 Faile St. Bronx, N.Y.

As you know our meetings are on rotation, so the Brooklyn/Westchester District will be hosting us this month and our February  meeting will take place on the Manhattan District (3rd Thursday of the month).

So let's come out and be supportive of one another while having some fun. relaxation and fellowship.
Hope to see you on Thursday

December 2013

Thank you my sisters for the support that was given to our sister the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill, Coordinator of the Manhattan District during her time of bereavement. Some dealt with ice and traffic to show their support to her during the viewing of her mother, Sister Helen Ellis, others sent cards, phone calls, text messages etc.I know Dr. Hill was Blessed to have her sisters come and share words of encouragement.

And also for the love and support shown to the family and Church family of our sister the Rev. Ruth Morris-Rosa. We thank God for her life. Her Pastor the Rev. Ella Brandon preached an encouraging word to the crowd that gathered to bid farewell to our dear Sister.
Please continue to lift up these families. It is never easy to loose our loved ones, but it is even more difficult during these times.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of  Sis. Helen Ellis, mother of the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill, Pastor of Mt. Pisgah/Turner Memorial AME Church and Manhattan WIM Coordinator. Sis. Ellis transitioned from labor to reward today.   We are asking that you continue to keep the family in your prayers and as soon as arrangements are known, we will inform you.

Grace and Peace my sisters:
We ask that you keep the family of Rev. Ruth Rosa who transition from labor to reward tonight in your prayers.  Rev. Ruth Rosa was an Associate Minister of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church where her Pastor is the Rev. Ella Brandon. We know that Rev. Rosa is resting from her labor. We will her smile and her warm Spirit.  As information is known, I will send it out, in the meanwhile, please do keep her family, her church family and her Pastor in your prayers.

As we continue in this Advent season, we are thankful for the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of Jesus the Christ, whom we know is the reason for the season. It is never easy when our loved ones become ill, but somehow during the Holiday season it seems to be so much harder. The Rev. Jacqueline Bullock is asking for prayer for her mother (Sis. Jessie Carter) who is in hospice in Philadelphia and we ask that you continue to lift the Rev. Dr. Hill and her family in your prayers.
Please don't take these prayer request for granted. Please do stop and go before the Lord on behalf of our brothers and sisters. Prayer works, prayer changes things, Prayer makes a difference.   So, please do lift our sisters and their loved ones in your prayers.

Important Minister's Housing Allowance Update

November 2013

Hello my sisters and Associate members,

Are you or someone you know in need of "Healing" and/or "Restoration?"  I don't know about you, but for the past few weeks I was asked to pray for someone who was given a bad Dr.'s report, or just going through. We all have heard the news and saw the devastation of what took place in the Philippines.  As a former emergency room employee, between now and Christmas, there is an increase of patients with complaints of being depressed, psychosomatic ailments etc. These symptoms, not always, but more often than not, are due to the holidays. Missing our loved ones who are no longer with us because of various reasons. May be it's your child, or even you who stands in the need of healing or restoration.

If so, we invite you to come and join us this Friday, November 22 2013 @ 7 pm at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church located at 1765 Madison Ave. New York, NY (212) 369-6643. The Rev. JoAn Owings, Pastor.  This service is being hosted by the Manhattan District WIM under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Linda Hill.

Let us come together and pray for each other. The Bible reminds us that we should pray without ceasing, it also teaches us that we should pray one for another.  The book of James reminds us that the "effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much." In the same book it states "is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him"

I don't know about you, but I am encouraged by the word of God regarding prayer.  So, let's come out and join in prayer so that we maybe healed and restored.  Remember, this service is open to EVERYONE. Men, Women and children.
First District WIM meeting in Philadelphia
Praise the Lord my sisters,  For those of you who will be traveling to Philadelphia this week, the First District WIM will take place at 2:30 p.m. at headquarters.  During this meeting, our District President stated that we will take time to honor the memories of Bishop Sarah Davis.
Travel safely and be blessed.
